Nollywood actress Funke Akindele was noticeably absent from the premiere of Kamo State’s debut cinema film, Star Lomo, in Lagos on Sunday, September 20, 2026.
Her absence quickly attracted attention online, particularly because of the close relationship she has shared with Kamo State, whose real name is Akinyoola Ayoola.
Some social media users began questioning why Akindele was not at the premiere, with some speculating that there could be a problem between the actress and the skit maker.
Kamo State has now addressed the speculation.
According to the comedian and filmmaker, Funke Akindele was simply outside Nigeria when the premiere took place. He said there was no disagreement between them and asked people not to speculate about their personal relationship.
Kamo explained that he had already spoken with Akindele about the premiere and that she still intends to support his movie.
He also urged fans and social media users to focus on the film rather than trying to interpret her absence as a sign of a disagreement.
The speculation gained attention partly because Akindele has supported Kamo State over the years. The two became more closely associated during the promotion of Everybody Loves Jenifa, and Kamo has also appeared in some of Akindele’s projects.
Despite her absence, the Star Lomo premiere attracted several familiar faces from Nollywood and the Nigerian entertainment industry, including Iyabo Ojo, Odunlade Adekola, Lateef Adedimeji and Mo Bimpe.
Kamo also drew attention at the premiere with a custom jacket featuring images of late Nigerian entertainment icons, including Onyeka Onwenu, Ayinla Omowura, Mohbad and Fela Kuti.
For now, Kamo State has made his position clear: he says there is no problem between him and Funke Akindele, and that her absence from the premiere was simply because she was out of the country.
He has asked fans to leave the speculation behind and keep their attention on Star Lomo as the movie heads towards its theatrical release.
