The National Examinations Council has released the results of the 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination.
The results were announced on Thursday, September 24, by NECO Registrar and Chief Executive Professor Dantani Wushishi.
According to the examination body, 1,378,048 candidates registered for the 2026 examination, while 1,371,992 candidates eventually sat for the examination.
58.67% Obtained Five Credits
NECO said 804,948 candidates, representing 58.67 per cent of those who sat for the examination, obtained at least five credits including English Language and Mathematics.
The council also reported that 84.70 per cent of candidates obtained five credits and above when English Language and Mathematics were not specifically required in the calculation.
The results cover candidates who took the 2026 SSCE Internal examination conducted across Nigeria.
Examination Took Place Between June and July
The 2026 SSCE was conducted from June 15 to July 23.
NECO subsequently carried out the nationwide marking exercise between August 17 and September 4 before completing the process of compiling and releasing the results.
The examination was conducted across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, as well as six countries outside Nigeria.
Examination Malpractice Declined
NECO also reported a significant reduction in the number of candidates involved in examination malpractice.
The council said the number fell from 3,878 candidates in 2025 to 1,496 candidates in 2026, representing a 64.74 per cent decrease.
The registrar attributed the reduction to improved examination processes, stronger monitoring and cooperation with security agencies and other stakeholders.
How Candidates Can Check Their Results
Candidates who sat for the 2026 SSCE can check their results online through the NECO result-checking platform.
Candidates will need their examination details, including their registration information, to access their individual results.
NECO advised candidates to remain focused on their academic pursuits following the release of the results.

The release of the 2026 SSCE results marks the completion of another examination cycle for thousands of Nigerian students.
